James "Jim" Roy Finley was born October 20, 1960 in Oklahoma City, OK to T. Roy & Jo Ann (Murphy) Finley. He departed this life on Saturday, February 2, 2019, in Locust Grove, OK at the age of 58. Jim grew up surrounded by parents & older sister Terri in Norman, OK & graduated as a Norman Tiger with the class of 1978. He went on to attend Abilene Christian University in Abilene, TX, where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing. Jim had a long history of working in sales where his honest nature & deep knowledge of business shone through, & for most of his life called Norman home.

For several years, Jim owned & operated Affordable Media Solutions. His passion for music made him an accomplished drummer & later teacher to many students. His drumming career had culminated prior to meeting Bonnie in a USO tour performing for troops stationed overseas across Eastern Asia including Japan, Korea, & Indonesia with his band "Sass", which later became the "Caryl Mack Band".

While performing with his band in Portland, Jim found the love of his life in Bonnie (then McLauchlin) & on October 5, 1986, they were married in the same city. They returned as a family to Jim's home state, & from 1991 to 2013 lived in Norman where they raised their children, Taylor & Jay. He attended his childhood church at the Westside Church of Christ in Norman & was deeply devoted to his community, where he was a beloved father-figure who taught children's "Bible Hour". Jim was an advocate of family activities & coached his children in all kinds of little league sports. As they grew up, he was tirelessly there for them; once going as far as Europe to watch Jay compete in his championship soccer match, & making sure that Taylor was always supported as she masterfully coordinated theater shows.

For the past 5 years, Locust Grove has been their home where they raised horses as a therapeutic pastime & business. Jim cared for each animal endlessly, especially his favorite horse, DJ. While in Locust Grove, Jim attended the Eastside Church of Christ. Jim had a keen sense of humor & was an avid OU Sooners fan. Jim loved & is loved by his family & dogs. He & the memory of his life will be missed by those that knew him.

Jim is survived by his wife of over 32 years, Bonnie Finley & daughter, Taylor Finley of Norman, OK; son, Jay Finley of Locust Grove, OK; Mother Jo Ann Finley of Norman, OK; His sister Terri Cox & husband Bob, of Oklahoma City, OK; Uncle Don & Aunt Rae Porter of Oklahoma City, OK. Jim was preceded in death by his father, T. Roy Finley; his paternal grandparents Roy & Geneva Finley; & his maternal grandparents James & Eulah Mae Murphy.
