Hugh's Story

Hugh Ellis Ledbetter, Jr., 89, of Norman passed away on Friday, May 5th, 2017 at his home in Norman, OK.
Hugh was born on September 12, 1927 in Ardmore, OK to H.E. Dutch and Lois Ledbetter. Hugh joined the U.S. Army on December 3, 1954 and served until September 4, 1956 when he received his honorable discharge as a Petroleum Storage Specialist. Hugh also graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a B.S. in Geology as well as a Masters in Petroleum Engineering. While at OU and after graduation Hugh was a member of many organizations including: Tau Beta Pi, Phi Delta Phi (International Legal Fraternity), Sigma Tau, Society of Geological Engineers and The Engineering Club. He also was the Chairman of the Cleveland County Republican Party and a lifetime member of the N.R.A. Hugh worked as an independent petroleum geologist and was a dedicated and accomplished fly-fisherman.
Hugh was survived by his wife, Linda; daughters: Sharon Ledbetter Adams and husband, Vester; Lee Ann Ledbetter Burgess and husband, Joe, and Step-Daughter, Kathleen Combs and husband, Jason; Five Grandchildren: Jasmine Estelle Taylor, Jacob Ellis Adams, Ina St. George, Evelyn Combs and Clara Combs; his Office Manager and friend, Meg Williams, and a host of other family members and friends. Hugh was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Jasmine Ledbetter (2013).

Viewing will be held on Monday, May 8th, 2017 from 3-8 pm at Havenbrook Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be on Tuesday, May 9th, 2017at 2:00 pm at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ardmore, OK.
