Fred Cobb

Events

Fred Cobb, 94, of Norman, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2019 in Norman, Oklahoma, leaving behind his beloved wife, Martha Jane Cobb, but with strong faith that they would be joined together again.
Fred was born in Norman to Fred and Katie Cobb on September 18, 1924. He grew up and lived in Norman for much of his life, except when he joined with the United States Air Corps (currently known as the US Air Force) as a bombardier. During World War II, Fred was stationed in Belfuge, South Dakota, where he met and married his first wife, Evelyn, who passed away in the late 1980s. Together, Fred and Evelyn raised one daughter, Lou Anne. Fred was discharged from the Air Corps as a First Lieutenant and returned to Oklahoma, where he attended the University of Oklahoma, earning a degree in engineering in 1947. HE then went to work alongside his father at their family business, Cobb Engineering, in Oklahoma City, for several happy years before his retirement.
At his Norman High School 60th reunion, he found his old high school girlfriend, Martha Beeson, who had been married to Bill Beeson before Bill's death in 1992. Fred and Martha soon found themselves in love, and the two were joined in marriage at the age of 77, remaining married 18 years before Fred's passing. Together, Fred and Martha enjoyed fishing, traveling, OU football, and attending their high school get-togethers every month.
Fred is survived by his loving wife Martha Cobb, of Norman; one daughter, Lou Anne Powers, of Lawton; one sister, Nancy Fisher, of Durango, Colorado; Martha's children: Janet Haynie, of Lawton; Carol Crull, of Pauls Valley; Dr. William Beeson, of Duncan; and Bruce Beeson, of Norman. He is also survived by a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, family, and friends.
memorial services for Mr. Cobb will be held at 10:30 a.m., May 4, 2019, at the First Christian Church in Norman, Oklahoma.

I am so sorry about Fred. I remember how much my Bob enjoyed visiting with him at the Sorosis Christmas party. Hope to get to see you soon.
