Dr. Kim's Story

Kim David Floyd, D.O., F.A.C.E.P., was born in Tulsa, OK on March 22nd 1959. He unexpectedly left this world on October 21, 2017, at the young age of 58. Born to Jimmie and Gail Floyd of Hillsboro, Oregon. He is the eldest of three siblings whom are: James Scott Floyd and Rebecca Lee Buisan. Kim started his medical career at an early age as an ER and OR tech and as a paramedic in Hillsboro. He then moved to Oklahoma and completed college at OBU in Shawnee, Oklahoma and entered medical school in Tulsa, graduating in 1987 and receiving his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine license in 1988 and later specializing in Emergency medicine. While attending school, he married Donna Daugherty and was blessed with two sons, Kyle David and Travis Daniel Floyd. Kim and partners started a business in 1994 that was originated in Oklahoma City OK, that contracted out physicians to different emergency rooms throughout the cities. He was a member of the Oklahoma County Sheriff SWAT team for approximately 10 years while working as an emergency room physician. After approximately 15 years of being an emergency room physician, Kim decided to go into family medicine and start his own private practice in Norman, OK with one of his partners Buzz in 2003. Kim got sober and stayed sober with the help Alcoholics Anonymous on September 18, 2009. He has always been an avid runner and bicyclist. Since sobriety in 2009, he started getting involved with triathlons and duathlons. He loved racing triathlons, duathlons and half marathons. Kim enjoyed doing these races with his loved ones including his sons Kyle and Travis. Kim is survived by his wife of the home Jill Floyd whom he married in 2012; children, Kyle ad Travis Floyd, Skyler Andrew, Haley Anne and Annabelle Evelynn; parents; siblings; his beloved dogs Django and Gordo that he would take out to run with; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Kim was a wonderful physician, husband, son, brother, father and friend to so many and will be missed by more than can be counted. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Doctors without Borders. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2:00 P.M., at the Wildwood Community Church, 1501 24th Ave., NE, Norman, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of John Ireland Funeral Home.
