Delmar E. Hopkins

May 13, 1908 - January 02, 2019

Delmar E. Hopkins Delmar E. Hopkins (Pops) was born May 13, 1908 to Henry and Amanda Hopkins of Honey Grove, Texas. He held a variety of jobs with more than 20 years working at Boomer car dealership and Remington Race Track.

Scott Wells, President and General Manager at Remington Race Track created the annual Delmar Hopkins Spirit Award acknowledging an individual displaying exemplary positive attitude and dedication to excellence. This honor and $1,000 is given each year during Delmar's birthday celebration at Remington Race Track which includes a race named in his honor.

Pops sported around in a customized red on silver PT Cruiser, loved listening to Rock-N-Roll, Blues and Country. A few of his favorites were Ray Charles, T-Bone Walker, Lightnin' Hopkins, Conway Twitty and Johnnie Cash.

Delmar was married three times for a total of 73 years. His marriage to his first wife, Odessa for eight years produced his only son, Kenneth Delmar. He was married to his second wife, Mazella, for 47 years before she passed in 1985. Delmar and his third wife, Ardee, were married for18 years before her death in 2008.

Delmar was an exceptionally special man. He believed working kept him going and gave him purpose. He loved people. He loved to laugh. He always had a smile on his face and a song in his heart. He would break out in song at any moment. He said "Don't worry, be happy, it's all in your attitude"! He lived that motto.

Pops passed on January 2, 2019. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted son, Kenneth Delmar, daughter-in-law, Karin; Richard Cannon (who he called his second son) and his wife Bette; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on January 12, 2019 at Rolfe Funeral Home, 2936 NE 36th St., Oklahoma City, OK, USA.
