Norman resident Clyde E. Zurmehly, Jr., 91, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2017 in a Norman hospital.

Clyde was born May 10, 1926 Lima, Ohio to Clyde Elwood & Cleta (Rehm) Zurmehly, Sr. He was a 1944 graduate of Shawnee High School, and attended OBU & OU. He worked as a Postal Inspector for the US Postal Service, and the Shawnee Postal Service. On June 12, 1947 he married Oleta Jean Hiser in Shawnee. He was an all-around athlete in basketball, football, track and golf in high school and also while at OBU & OU. The family had C & N Sports Shop, and Clyde volunteered at the Norman Police Dept. and as a Marshall at Trails Golf Course. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, sister & brother-in-law and a nephew and a great grandchild.
He is survived by his wife: Jean Zurmehly of the home, 2 Daughters: Cathy Boggs and Gina Thompson, 5 Grandchildren, 6 Great-Grandchildren and a brother: Charles Zurmehly.
