Brenda Ann Johnson, 64, passed away September 6 after a brief illness.
Brenda was born March 24, 1953 to Arlon and Juanita Johnson. She grew up in Walters, Oklahoma, and graduated Walters High School in 1971. She earned a B.A. in English from Oklahoma State University in 1975 and a Master of Library Science from the University of Oklahoma in 1976.
She married Jim Jewell on April 4, 1980. She lived in Norman for over forty years, raising two children, working as a librarian in the Pioneer Library System, and volunteering with Girl Scouts, Meals on Wheels, and as a Sunday school teacher.
She was a Pilates enthusiast, loyal and true Oklahoma State fan, and a lover of Seinfeld. She was an avid reader, a crossword puzzler, and could win any trivia game single-handedly. She was also a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend, and inspired those around her with her kindness and generosity.
She is preceded in death by her parents and sister Lendell. She is survived by her husband, Jim Jewell, of Norman; daughter, Laura Jewell and family of Richardson, Texas; son, James Jewell, of St. Louis; brother, Brent Johnson and family of Tulsa; and sister, Barbara Johnson, of Oklahoma City.
An informal reception will be held at the Moore Public Library on Saturday, September 9 from 9:30-11am.
