Bill Holyfield, 84, of Edmond, OK, went home to be with the Lord January 22, 2018. He was born in Hattieville, Arkansas, April 1, 1933 to Fay Holyfield and Thelma (Hubbard) Holyfield. Bill graduated from Wonderview High School and received a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and a Masters of Arts in Urban Affairs from Central State University. He was married to Katheryn Ann (Bell) Holyfield.
He was an Oklahoma Highway Patrolman with 30 years of service. He retired as Assistant Chief with the rank of Lt. Colonel and was a graduate of the FBI National Academy. He was a Mason, a lifetime member of the Oklahoma Sheriff's and Peace Officers Association and a member of Edmond Heritage Baptist Church. He loved to watch the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Rangers play ball.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Alice Mozelle (Vire) Holyfield; sister, Ruby Nell Plunk, and grandson Taylor Garrett Holyfield. He is survived by his wife Kathy of the home; brother, Don Paul Holyfield and wife June of Norman; son, Jerry Don Holyfield and wife Pam; stepdaughters, Ginger Shockley and husband Ron, and Shaunna Smallwood; grandchildren, BJ Holyfield and wife Tiney, Kayla Dawn Holyfield, Preston Kirshner, Ethan Wahlmeier, Logan Smallwood, and Scarlet Schockley and great grandchildren Blain and Blake. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, January 25, 2018 at Baggerley Funeral Home, 10th and Broadway in Edmond, OK with interment at Memorial Park Cemetery.
