Barbara's Story

Barbara Kathryn Reeser, 96, went home to be with the Lord on July 13, 2017. She was born on August 26, 1920 in Oklahoma City, OK to Oris Doak and Thelma Bertha (Harper) Marshall. Her family moved to a farm near Spencer in 1930 where she would attend Star Elementary and graduate in 1938 from Central High School in Oklahoma City. Barbara married Dee Merill Reeser on November 5, 1941. Dee left for the Pacific in late 1942, and she gave birth to their first child Michael Dee Reeser in March of 1943. She worked for Southwestern Bell, later to become AT&T and retired with over 30 years of service. Dee came home in 1946, and Janis was born in 1947, and Debbie would come later in 1957. Barbara was a charter member of Dickson Baptist Church in Midwest City and served many roles in this church. She taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was a deacon's wife. In 1982, Barbara and Dee moved to Norman to be near their grandchildren. They were married for 59 years when Dee passed away in 2001. Barbara was a member of North Haven Church in Norman. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband Dee; son, Michael; siblings, Elaine, Thelma, Cleta, Myrna and Oris Doak Marshall, Jr. Survivors include her children, Janis Higgins and husband, Carl, Deborah "Debbie" McKinnon (Bill); grandchildren, Kari Bennett (Kaleb), Michael Dee Higgins (Jackie); step-grandchildren, Hull McKinnon (Porter), Garrett McKinnon (Robin), Catherine Powell (Chuck); great-grandchildren, Sam, Drew and Lainey Bennett; step-great-grandchildren, Currie and Harrison McKinnon, Caiden, Reese and Hudson McKinnon, Archer, Woods and Peyton Powell; sister, Vivian Reeser; sister-in-law, Betty Reeser Haney; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family who will miss her dearly. The family will be receiving guests at the Bill Eisenhour Northeast Funeral home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2017. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Arlington Memory Gardens. Condolences may be offered at www.eisenhourfuneralhome.com
