Alice's Story

Alice Elizabeth Mobley, 89, passed from this life February 17, 2018. She was born July 1, 1928 in Bluejacket, OK to Sam and Lilly (Coats) Tucker. Alice grew up and graduated high school in Bluejacket, then moved to Norman in 1945, where she was a longtime resident.

On June 30, 1956, she married her beloved husband, Buell Mobley. Alice loved staying active in her children's activities while they were growing up, including Norman High School Cross Country, PTA and Band Parents. A natural musician, she also enjoyed singing and playing piano. Alice was a member of the Canterbury Choral Society for more than 25 years. She was also a member of First Baptist Church of Norman for more than 60 years, until her health began to decline.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Buell Mobley; and son, Doug Southerland.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory: son, David Mobley and wife Vicki; daughter, Charlotte Southerland; grandchildren, Ryan Mobley, Andrew McCrum, Kimberly Southerland, and Joey Southerland; as well as a longtime family friend and "bonus daughter," Pilar Escobar.
